James R. "Rick" Myers Tell the community a little about yourself: My wife Dana and I bought our house in Briarwyck in 2020. I am a licensed attorney at law and current director of a community bank. I have been on the HOA board for four years, and have been HOA board president for the last two years. Why do you want to serve on the Board? I want to continue the work the HOA has done to address community needs. In the last couple years, the HOA has made significant improvements to the pool, changed management, and, in my opinion, has become more responsive to homeowners. I want that progress to continue. What experience or skills would you bring to the board? I am a licensed attorney at law. I was board president of a local YMCA during a successful major building project. I have been a director of a community bank for the last six years or so. I have (too much) experience dealing with people and issues that make others don't want to address or makes them uncomfortable. What do you see as the biggest issue facing Briarwyck today? HOA needs more people to actually get involved. HOA has several areas we could improve significantly with some volunteers, like social events for example. If elected, what is your #1 priority? My number #1 priority is, and has been, to make sure HOA is responsive to homeowners and their concerns. How do you approach decisions that may not be popular with all homeowners? It is impossible to please everyone, and that's OK. I try to make decisions that are in in the best interests of the HOA and are consistent with its governing documents and Texas law. Joey Romero Tell the community a little about yourself: My wife, Leidy, and I moved to Briarwyck in 2015 and have proudly called the community home for 11 years. We are both Realtors serving Roanoke and the surrounding area, and we have three children, Sofia, Cristian, and Matias, who have grown up in this community. We first lived on Bristol before moving to Hackworth in early 2019, and we plan to call Briarwyck home for many years to come. Why do you want to serve on the Board? I have served the Briarwyck HOA in several roles, beginning as a Member at Large, then as Vice President, and ultimately as President. I am proud of the progress we have made, but I believe there is still important work ahead, and I want to continue providing the consistent leadership, accountability, and follow-through necessary to keep Briarwyck moving in the right direction. What experience or skills would you bring to the board? Serving as Member at Large, Vice President, and President has given me firsthand experience with HOA governance, budgeting, vendor and contractor management, community projects, long-term planning, and making difficult decisions on behalf of the neighborhood. As a Realtor, I also bring a strong understanding of property values, market trends, and the importance that maintenance, amenities, financial responsibility, and the overall appearance of a community have on long-term home values. What do you see as the biggest issue facing Briarwyck today? Balancing continued maintenance and improvement with rising costs while remaining financially responsible to homeowners. We need to plan ahead rather than simply react to problems, while holding our vendors accountable and maintaining the standards that make Briarwyck a desirable place to live. If elected, what is your #1 priority? To improve Briarwyck through responsible financial planning, proactive maintenance, and investment in the long-term value of our community. How do you approach decisions that may not be popular with all homeowners? I believe Board decisions should be based on what is best for the community as a whole, even when that means making a decision that may not be popular with everyone. I try to listen to different perspectives, consider the facts and long-term consequences, and make decisions with common sense, transparency, and fiscal responsibility while always keeping Briarwyck's best interests first. Matthew Milner Tell the community a little about yourself: I have just moved into Briarwyck. My family and I moved from Florida. I am a FL CPA and working on getting reciprocity to have the TX CPA License. Looking to get involved with the community and meeting other board members. Why do you want to serve on the Board? I want to get involved within the community and meet new people. I have experience on the financial side of things and how businesses run. While the association is different, I feel like my experience could be beneficial to the board. What experience or skills would you bring to the board? I bring financial experience and budgeting experience. What do you see as the biggest issue facing Briarwyck today? I am not familiar with this ph II project to provide an opinion. If elected, what is your #1 priority? If I am elected for my financial background, my priority would be to make sure the association is properly budgeted and on good financial grounds. How do you approach decisions that may not be popular with all homeowners? If a decision is not popular with all homeowners, explaining the decision and why it is in the best decision of the association to pursue so the other homeowners can understand more can help alleviate some of the concerns they have. Having communication with people helps. Matt Schultheis Tell the community a little about yourself: I'm Matt Schultheis. My wife Kaytee and I are raising our kids here in Briarwyck. I own Brick & Stone Master, a Roanoke construction business that serves HOAs and homeowners across North Texas. I bring the discipline of running budgets, managing vendors, and holding projects to a high standard, and I care about this being a great place for families. Why do you want to serve on the Board? I love this community and I think we can do more with what we already pay for. We spend real money each year on management and vendors, and homeowners deserve to see that money making a visible difference. I also want families with young kids represented on the board, because that voice matters when decisions get made about parks and amenities. What experience or skills would you bring to the board? I run a construction business, so I evaluate proposals, negotiate scope, hold contractors accountable, and manage projects to completion every day. Those are the same skills board service requires. I also bring the habit of listening carefully to homeowners, communicating clearly, and making decisions based on facts instead of reactions. What do you see as the biggest issue facing Briarwyck today? Getting real value from the money we already spend, and reinvesting in the spaces our families actually use. Our parks have no shade, some amenities need attention, and our vendor relationships could be managed more actively. If elected, what is your #1 priority? Shade at both parks and the splash pad so families can use them in the summer, and real accountability for the vendors we pay. How do you approach decisions that may not be popular with all homeowners? By listening first, explaining the reasoning clearly, and applying rules consistently to every homeowner. Not every decision will please everyone, and that's part of the job. People can accept a decision they disagree with when they feel heard, when the reasoning is transparent, and when the same standards apply to their neighbors.
